Hubay|Dougherty Partner, Trent Dougherty, chairs the firm’s nonprofit practice area and uses his deep experience in the nonprofit field and public interest ethic to provide our mission-driven non-profit clients the full array of legal advice and representation needed to succeed.  Trent assists our clients with any and all issues dealing with the full life cycle of an organization - from nonprofit formation, governance, affiliated organization maintenance, legal compliance, and securing tax exempt status. While not all nonprofits have the luxury of an in-house counsel, all organizations need to know what legal risks they are potentially facing,and have a trusted partner to rely on when legal questions arise. Hubay|Dougherty and its client-centered approach, are dedicated to being that reliable partner for nonprofits of all sizes and budgets. Before joining Hubay|Dougherty in October of 2021, Trent spent 16 years as in-house counsel for the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) family of organizations. Trent holds a B.A. in English from The Ohio State University, and a Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School. He is admitted to practice law by the State of Ohio and the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio.
